This morning was the coldest morning since the 22nd of January when Kalamazoo dipped down to -7 degrees. Here's a smattering of low temperatures from around the region:

Delton: -14
Hastings: -14
Marshall: -10
Battle Creek: -6
Parma: -5
Hopkins: -3
Dorr: -2
Allendale: -2
Kalamazoo: -1
Oshtemo: -1

This afternoon is the coldest afternoon of the week, and likely, the coldest afternoon of the month with highs in the middle teens. Lake effect isn't over, but definitely in a muted state save for the western half of Ottawa, Allegan, and Van Buren counties. In these locations, new snowfall may tally upwards of an inch. If clearing takes root tonight, we'll have another chance to dip down toward or below zero. Right now, we're conservatively forecasting a low of 4 degrees.

With a disturbance fluttering through Wednesday and a storm passing by to our south, we have a resurgence in lake effect snowfall Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night. This should lead to new snowfall on order of 2" to 4" or more in western Allegan, western Van Buren, western Cass, and Berrien counties. Farther inland, including Kalamazoo, snowfall could be less than an inch. We see, finally, a major improvement in our temperatures with highs in the middle 20s Thursday and the upper 20s Friday. The weekend looks mainly tame and warmer. For those looking for some optimism, aren't we all, we are 30 days out from spring. Next Wednesday could bring near 50-degree air to West Michigan. Fingers crossed!
